He was a great friend and battle buddy. We called him Carter Dad in basic because that’s what he was to us, our dad. His memory will stick with me and motivate me throughout my military career. Rest in Peace sapper.

My buddy, I’m so sorry. I can’t even put into words how I feel. I’ll never forget all of the times we spent together. When we grew up on Curlew, all of us hung out in the clearing and rode our bikes, put pennies on the train tracks, and just had so much fun. Every time I come across that meme of who your childhood best friend is, I always shared it with you, and you always did the same, and we laughed about it. Camping and spending weeks on end together, becoming close with a lot of your family members, I just adored you. I’m really thankful to have met you, your mother and your mom. For a long time that’s all I had. We camped so many times. Woke up soaking wet, watched your mom fall over into the creek, laughed so hard we had tears. You were always there for me no matter what. I will always love you ❤️
