Darrell T. Dillenbeck (‘Dill’) Greece: Sunday, January 1, 2017, peacefully in the loving presence of his wife, son and daughter-in-law at the age of 86-years-old. Predeceased by his parents Ethel (Turner) and Ulmont C. Dillenbeck, sisters Jane Belden and Alayne Podeskzek and by granddaughter Olivia Shay Dillenbeck. He is survived by his devoted wife Margaret of 63 years, children Brian, daughter-in-law Mary, Jared (Laurie) and Eric (Margery), grandchildren Heather Daly (Michael), Ian , Kyle, Jamie, Joe, Jayden, Ben, Jack, Hannah, and Meg, sister Dorris Foradori (Harry), and multiple nieces and nephews. Darrell was born on May 8, 1930 in Black River, NY to Ethel Turner and Ulmont C. Dillenbeck. He graduated from Black River High School in 1948. He married his high school sweetheart Margaret P. Dillenbeck on August 22, 1953. He enlisted in the Navy in 1948 and served on the destroyer tender USS Cascade until 1952. He began working at IBM as a customer service engineer in 1955 and retired in 1987 as a field manager. Over 4 years, the couple welcomed 3 children into their home. His children remember him as a dedicated and hard-working career man and devoted father and grandfather. He was a passionate companion to many beloved dogs. Darrell was an accomplished athlete during his high school and early adult years, especially passionate about baseball. Throughout his life he enjoyed collecting and researching fossils, gems, minerals and antiques. He was passionate about collecting Civil War military buttons. He was proud to serve in the Urban League of Rochester, as a loaned executive from IBM. Friends may call Monday (Jan 9th) 4-7 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Rd., Rochester, NY. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, (Jan 10th) 10:00 AM at Lutheran Church of Concord, 485 Holmes Road, Rochester, NY, with a reception to follow.     Darrell was my only male cousin.I always remember his great smile.I will always be thankful to him for his help with the Dillenbeck family history.One memory I have is when I must have been 8 or 9 years old.There must have been a pickup baseball game.My dad Emmett Groner was pitching and Darrell was playing.It must have been during a family reunion because my cousin Joyce Sweeney was also there.
    I always had great respect for his mother,my Aunt Ethel.
