Mike was one of a kind and I am saddened to hear of his passing. But I know he and Ed are together joking around and singing like the good old days. In fact, if I listen closely enough I can hear those mellow pipes belt out the Righteous Brothers… Rest in peace, Mr. Z. With love,

I am deeply saddened to hear of Mike’s death. He was one of the funniest and most talented men I have ever known. The very first show I ever played piano for when I was a newcomer to Rochester was a Brighton Theatre Guild production of ‘Damn Yankees’ at least 35 years ago. Although the cast was stellar, the orchestra was totally immersed in laughter by Mike just being Mike. Of the hundreds of shows I have been involved with, that one was the most fun. And it was all because of this sweet, funny man. He will be deeply missed by everyone in the Rochester theatre community. My sympathies to his family and to his countless friends. I wish I were closer so I could come to the service on Friday. Bye, bye, dear Michael.

My deepest regrets over the untimely passing of such a great person. We had some of the best memories with Mike on the many occasions he joined us for Easter dinner. We will never forget the butter lambs, lamb cake and his collection of tin men. Rest in piece my friend

The Greece Performing Arts Society (GPAS) is sad to hear the sudden passing of Mike Szatkowski. For many years Mike served as our Artistic/Music Director of the GPAS Summer Theatre and chaired the GPAS Young Artist Competition and Recital. Most recently, Mike served as GPAS Executive Board Vice President. We remember with gratitude Mike’s dedication to GPAS and his musical talents and accomplishments. May he rest in peace.

I was a student at SUNY Brockport and remember well Mike’s big laugh and sense of humour. I am lucky, and thankful, to have known him!

While I did not know Michael personally, I can say that he was the most inspirational musician and singer in a Church that I had the privilege of hearing. His voice was beautiful and made me deeply appreciate the music of several artists, especially Marty Haugen. Thank you Michael, and rest in peace.
