Frielinghaus, Barbara (Arnold) (Salmon) Rochester: Born December 5, 1931, Passed June 26, 2016. Barbara was an amazing woman with many talents, who touched the lives of others in many ways. She was an accomplished pianist, singer and actress. She sang with the ‘Musical Notes’ at Kodak Park, Highland Park Bowl and acted locally in many plays and was chosen the first ‘Miss Rochester.’ Barb generously donated much of her time to help those in need, including the mentally and physically disabled as well as those less fortunate than her. She believed in the power of music, humor, art and drama to help bring people together and help them to learn and grow. Barb was an amazing cook and loved planning parties and clam bakes for family and friends. She was in so many ways in love with life, and was loved by her family and friends. Barb loved her family with a passion! She is survived by her two sons, James Salmon (Diane) and William Salmon (Jane), and her grandchildren (Russell, Bethany, Jamie and Traci), great grandchildren (Sarah, Rylie, and Owen), Sister Geri (John), and niece Tamara (Mark, Lindsey, Kelly) and nephew (Jay). Barb was the first in her family to attend college – MCC & U of R (Education), then earned a Masters from RIT (Communications). Barb was a Lay-Minister with the United Church of Christ, an accomplished piano player, a Master Gardner, and loved to create beautiful surroundings for all to enjoy. Barb was a people person who loved being and doing, travelling, family gatherings, clam bakes, and simply having those she loved share time with her. Barb had many loves in her life. She shared 20 years married to Bob Salmon, the father of her two sons. Then 20 years married to Klaus Frielinghaus. Both Bob and Klaus were amazing men, and it was with Klaus that Barb realized many life-long dreams. They built a house on lake Ontario, and traveled and shared some of the best times of life. Barb was cared for by the loving folks at Woodcrest Assisted Living, and our many thanks to Carol Greco and her amazing staff. Barb is now with Christ, and she is in a much better place. Barb will be missed by all who loved her. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Barb’s life on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 4pm until 8pm at the Carriage Room at Tillman’s Village Inn, Rts 98 and 104 in Albion, NY. I recently met Barbara at Highland Hospital. I found her to be a delightful person and was not at all surprised to read of her accomplishments in the obituary. May she rest in peace.

Jim — I was so sorry to read of your mother’s passing. You don’t know me, but we met at the Park Ridge Auxiliary Luncheon at Ridgemont Country Club earlier this year. I introduced myself at the time as being someone who’d met your mother a few years ago when we were both members of one of Lifetime Care’s support groups. Your mother and I successfully arranged a day trip to the Corning Glass Center for those who were interested in attending. She was a great person to work with and we all had a good time on our little outing. I was amazed to read of all she had accomplished during her lifetime. I’m sure that you and your family are proud of her as you should be. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
