Rhobia Buncamper was discovered March 9, 2015 passed on to her creator in her residence in Rochester, NY. She was born March 17, 1965 in Brooklyn, NY. Rhobia earned a Bachelors of Science degree from The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, NY majoring in Marketing and Merchandising in 1988 after graduating from Scotch Plains High School in Scotch Plains, NJ. She worked in various fashion related companies over the past 25 years including Lord and Taylor, Macy’s, Sock Shop, Huffman and Koos, and as C.E.O. of Victoria Secrets flagship store in Manhattan, NY. After her diagnosis of Stargardt disease, which left her legally blind, Rhobia eventually settled in Rochester, NY where she worked for and with various associations for the visually impaired. She is survived by her father Richard Buncamper and step mother Maria Buncamper of Lake Wales, Fl, and her sister Njeri A. Buncamper of Henderson, NV. Her mother Freda Cox (Buncamper_Robinson) preceded her in death. She leaves behind Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins, on both sides of her family. She is now at peace and in the loving arms of her mother. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The American Macular Degeneration Foundation.

It is a complete loss and emptiness that I feel now after the passing of my daughter Rhobia. A parent should never bury their child because we have a treasure trove of memories with slips and falls, good times and bad, incredible achievements and failure filled with pain, first day of school and college graduation, calls 3am in the morning or no calls for months at a time, walking hand in hand to a park and giving her space when puberty approached and on and on and on with profound and unforgettable experiences over a 49 year period. I know she is in a better place now. Although she had Starguardt disease and was legally blind she now has perfect vision and is looking down at us with love. All the other earthly problems are now history and a new chapter of peace, joy, love and tranquility begins with her creator.

Dearest Richard, As you know I met Rhobia only twice in the lifetime we have shared, but her image stayed with me, and will forever. Not a wall flower, Rhobia stood out with a really big personality, sharp as a tack, witty, engaging, and with an inescapable intelligence. She was also very beautiful as we all know. For her at least the demons within are over. For the living who cared for her, and I know you did deeply, is to mourn for however much time it takes. To pick up the pieces, and to struggle with ourselves to keep going for ourselves, and for those who count on us. Spiritually I know you are strong, because you are, but especially because you have such a rich life with Maria, your combined families, many friends, your art, and a world vision that is inclusive. It keeps us all in your thoughts, and heart, all together, and we with you. Rhobia, sadly never understood that, nor could or wanted to. I am with heavy heart.
Your brother from Brooklyn’s projects, Art & Design, Vietnam, Kean, forever, and the afterlife (if there is one). I love you. Tony Velez

    Querio Richard
my heart goes out to you. I think the hardest thing as a parent is to lose one of our children no matter how old. I remember clearly how strong and intelligent she was and my girls remembered spending the night with her at the hotel and having tons of fun and I as a parent chewing her out for too much sugar and passing bed-time. I still have a christmas cactus that her and Bernadette gave me for thanksgiving about 10 years ago and that was the last time they both came up to New Hampshire together. She will be greatly missed): To be absent of the body is to be closer to the creator, so we know she has found both peace and love. My God ease your pain and comfort, you- Much Love *Sincerely Grace Tavares 4/3/15
