Kendall: Passed peacefully with his wife of 45 years at his side and Charlie his dog curled up next to him on April 11, 2013 after a two-year battle with leukemia. He was born on D-Day, June 6, 1944, the oldest child of the late Jerome and Carol Ahrns. He was a Maintenance Supervisor at Eastman Kodak, with a flair for all things mechanical. As a teen, he built hydroplanes on Honeoye Lake, then turned his skills on tractors and balers when he and his wife Ann Marie built an idyllic farm in Kendall. Steve helped Ridgemont Country Club run like clockwork when he found retirement from Kodak too restful. Ann Marie gave Steve a scroll saw when he retired from Kodak. He started making wood gifts on it and together they built the successful business Stephen J’s and Ann Marie’s Wood Design where they sold their products at a variety of craft shows. Steve was a master of all trades and always was helping everyone build or fix things. He was second to none with his kindness and generosity. He loved camping, farming, growing orchids, kayaking with his dog Charlie and the outdoors. He just adored his grandkids and loved playing with them and teaching them things. He is survived by not only his wife, but also his daughters Rebecca (Daryl) Walker and Heather (Jeffrey) Pelham; his grandchildren Harrison, Alexander and Rowan; his siblings Nicki (Mark) Cottle and Jeffrey (Jacque) Ahrns, and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to celebrate his life at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road, on Saturday April 20, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following in the chapel at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Unity Foundation.

Your father will be greatly missed, not only by his loving family, and Molly, Charlie and Mia, but by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him – will miss his wonderful smile! We are all here for you and praying you find some peace during this very difficult time. Sending my love to you all.

    Ann,
There are so many great times we all had together back in the good ole days. I had the privilege of watching your relationship with Steve grow from attraction, to lust, and then to love. I have always been touched to hear of your love growing deeper over the years. You were good for each other and good to each other. What a lovely love story. And I know that Steve lives on in your life forever.
    Jeff,
Your brother was so much fun. And he was always very, very talented in making things (i.e. Misty and the first house) and was always so nice to others. I know you will miss him greatly. But he will continue to be with you in spirit.
With love and sympathy to the family,
    Mary Dobbertin Steele

Dear Ann Marie and the Ahrns Family,
Steve meant so very much to me. We met again 2 years ago and within minutes it was
as if no time had lapsed since we last visited. We talked of the old days on Ridgemont
Drive and at the Lake and I felt the same connection we had so very long ago. Steve
was such a good person and I know he was loved by all. Loretta and I wish you peace
and comfort in knowing that Steve was loved by so many.

My Dear Annie..I am so sorry to hear that Steve has passed and that he has been battling Leukemia. I’ve been so caught up in my own affairs..I haven’t checked with anyone else. I have some awesome memories of the both of you. I am sure your later years were filled with memories to last your lifetime.

I would come to the funeral but my Brother in Law passed this week as well and his service is on the same day. My husband Jerry is battling end stage multiple myeloma so our days are full of appointments and dialysis. When I am able perhaps we could get yogrther

My deepest Sympathy to Stephen’s Family. It has been at least 50 years since I’ve seen Stephen, and remembered the good times at Honeoye Lake . Often wondered how he was doing. Again, my deepest Sympathy to his family.
