Don and I have been best of friends for 70 + years. We have had many wonderful experiences and memories that will stay with me forever. I will miss you terribly old friend. Hope to see you in the hereafter fishing either for bullheads at Braddocks or for smallmouth bass at the 1000 islands. Ron Steinwachs

Don will be sadly missed by all. Don & Shirley were great neighbors here in the Southern Tier. Always there when you needed help.

I wish our family could have known your dad in better times. But getting to know his daughters was a blessing at a difficult time for all of us. The Don’s are together now, discussing which school really had a better team…We were so happy to meet your family and we will be thinking of you during the next difficult days…

I was fortunate to have been a classmate, team mate, but more importantly a friend of Don’s since 1948. He was always upbeat and we all enjoyed many happy times. He loved my Mom’s greek cooking and was a frequent visitor at our house. I will miss not seeing him at our reunions to recount old times. Shirley, it was my pleasure to have talked to you recently. You and your family have my sympathy for your loss.

Hi Dino! It was good seeing your name herein. I stay in touch with Pat and Cathy Connaughton, and ask about you and Irene. He says you exchange Christmas cards. Hope all is well with you both. Where are you living?

I had the privilege of knowing Don, and deer hunting with him for about 25 years during the 70’s and 80’s in the Canaseraga area. He was an excellent and helpful hunter, and will never be forgotten. The social times and storytelling afterwards were memorable. My boys, John & Mike, idolized him. My sympathy to his entire family, and to all his old hunting buddies. God bless you, Don. Hopefully, we’ll meet again.

Today I had the priviledge to meet your family, Don. I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but thru your children your wife Shirley and family, I attended a beautiful memorial party honoring your life.
I would like to think when I pass that I would b e remembered as you were today.
It was a perfect day, family friends, present and past stories and OH MY God, FOOD, all sorts of foods and sweets, which I understand would have been your favorite place in the kitchen,.
Your presentation of slides, pictures and albums, so well done by your family, were a delight to look at.
Shirley meeting you was great and all your family.. Linda,Karen, Mike and Jim and spouses and grandchildren your dad and grandpa is very proud of all of you. You did him a great honor.
Thank you Don for defending our country, making my world a better place to live.
Don, though we’ve said our earthen goodbyes,I know that we shall all meet again someday. You will always walk with your loved ones because LOVE never dies.
Hopefully when we meet I will be able to make all the sweets you want.
    Rest in Peace Don,
    The lady in the kitchen
    Marie

    John Palermo
I’m saddened by Don’s passing. I worked side-by-side with him for moe than 22 years at Dupont, and he was one of the most affable and talented people I knew. More than that, he was an incredibly decent guy. Today, the world is one ‘good man’ short.
