Rochester: September 2, 2012. Predeceased by his parents, Russell & Dorothy Smith & brother-in-law, Joe Tortora. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Tortora; nephew, Joe Tortora; niece, Kim (Ken) Green; great nieces and nephews, Shelbie, Joey, Leah & Darien; aunts, uncles, cousins and his ‘family’ at the chateau residence. Russell’s visitation will be held, Friday, September 7th, 10-11 A.M. at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, Greece Chapel, 1075 Long Pond Road. His Funeral Service will be held following visitation at 11 A.M. in Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held privately in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
I worked with Russell at Lifetime Assistance in the workshop and was sadden to hear about his passing. Russell you will be missed RIP Buddy!!!!
Let’s do it!’ was one of Russell’s favorite sayings and do it, he did! He touched many lives and many hearts. We were so lucky that we could have Russell with us up until almost the very end — something he wanted so desparately to do–stay in his ‘Chateau home’ surrounded by people who cared and loved him. Be at peace, Russell! We will miss you….
Such a great kid. We will always remember cousin Sonny for how happy he was to see the family. He always came right up to everybody and had a great big hug for us whenever he saw us. Rest in peace buddy. Nobody deserves it more than you.
