A dear sweet, loving friend. I met Mariele 6 years ago and from the first day she became my friend. Within a short period she was one of my best friends. Fun, happy, smiling and full of laughter! I could always count on Mariele to liven up my day. Whether with her guidance, wisdom and her ability to always listen no matter when I needed her. I will always miss you Mariele. You can now brighten up Heaven the way you brightened up my life. Rest in peace.

I truly am saddened to hear of Mariele’s passing. I met her in 2007 when I worked at Steinway Hall. I recall working fairly closely with Mariele, and what struck me most about her was her vivacious sense of humor. She had a wonderful smile, too! No doubt she will be missed.

In 1991 I met Marielle in NY and she became one of my best friends. She had a wonderful laugh, a sparkel in her eye, and she always was chearfull and loving. Even though I left NY, we stayed in touch the best we could. I am now back in Denmark, and have not seen Marielle for about 3 years, but we have stayed in touch via telephone calls and mails. But she never told me she was sick! And I am so heartbroken to find out that my beautiful Marielle has left this world. I’m angry with her for not letting know and for not letting me be there for her; and for not giving the chance to say goodbye; but I’m proud of her for being so brave. I miss her and I will never forget her. I feel for all her family and friends. We have lost a shining star. May she make beautiful music for all the angels above. Love AM

Mariele sold me a Steinway but, that is a small part of the story. Mariele’s delightful sense of fun gave her immediate membership in what she called, my Merry Band. While one friend took song requests from Steinway employees downstairs, another knelt down and attempted Bach on two pianos, and then there were 2 pianos back to back duets with no music- or selection. We laughed and laughed until I actually bought a beautiful O Model. Mariele was there for the Second Tuning Party, recounting the entire story of the Merry Band at Steinway Hall and gracing us with her own exquisite playing. Mariele was an artist, a beautiful soul, a dear friend. We loved her.

Mariele, I’ll never forget the way you enlivened the halls of Steinway with your beautiful music. Your vivacious personality, your ability to offer ever-encouraging words and your endless kindness were only a few of the many wonderful characteristics you possessed. You were a dear friend to many and you will never be forgotten by the many of us whose hearts you’ve truly touched. May you now glorify the heavens with the sweet music you once gave to us all, and may the Lord grant you peace in his kingdom for all eternity. You will always be in my thoughts. My deepest condolences go out to your family.

Mariele, you were one of my closest friends. We shared countless laughs and some pretty entertaining stories. You were always there to listen and give me advice that I still live by today. We got each other through some pretty long weekends. I am truly blessed to have had you in my life. I know you are with your mother and sister now, in an amazing Paradise, and that is what makes this bearable. Knowing you are with your beloved, gives ua all some peace. I will always have you in my thoughts, heart, and prayers.
