Greece: Friday, September 11, 2009 at age 96. Predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Herman J. Hayes. Survived by her children, Cheryl Gleffe (Al Smith), Roger Hayes, Brenda Hayes; grandchildren, Margo (Steve) Phelan, Landon Gleffe, David (Rebecca) Gleffe; great-grandchildren, Nadia Gleffe, Kara Gleffe and Nicholas Phelan; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Edna Tina Wilson Living Center, for their loving care and a special thanks to the staff in the Mission and Victorian Wings. Friends may attend her Funeral Service Sunday at 2 PM in the Chapel of ¬Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road. Followed by calling hours 2:30 to 5:30 PM. Interment, Fall Cemetery Monday 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1549 Dewey Ave. in her memory.
Dear Cheryl and Brenda, Just received the news of your Mother’s passing from Mamie and Dave. My deepest sympathy for your loss. I have many fond memories of your parents and grandparents while you all lived in Byrnedale. My siblings have many stories and fond memories of your Mother and Evelyn teaching in the Byrnedale school, oh so long ago. May your hearts be lightened with fond memories. Verlie
