As a teacher at All Saints Academy in Corning, NY, I will always remember Father Davis for sharing his valuable time with my second grade students. He graciously shared time, talent and his love of God at our school and church. He was truly a gift from God for our church and community.

As I recently stated in a letter to Father Davis’ sister, Ginny, it has been a special blessing from God that all of us who were able to travel part of our earthly journey with him were given the opportunity to walk beside a true saint. Shalom Father.

Father Davis was a very special person. My mother admired him for as long as I can remember. When my daughter made her first communion and confirmation, my mother was her sponsor and my daughter had her picture taken with Father Davis. We still have the picture and will always cherish it. Also, I remember every year at Christmas, my mother would look forward to Father Davis’s newsletter and would share it with all of her children. We loved reading it, too. Now, my Mother can talk with Father Davis again. God Bless

Father Davis was a wonderful, gentle man. He served in Corning/Painted Post Catholic Community for many years and was an integral part of my life when I first moved to the Corning area. His kind words made a difference to me making me feel welcome to my new parish. May he rest in peace and God speed. There is another angel in heaven guiding us through our lives.

Father was such a wonderful gentle priest. He was easy to talk with and loved by many who attended St. Mary’s in Corning. He will be sadly missed but we all know he is in heaven. God Bless him.

I met Farther Davis in 1988 when he performed my wedding ceremony. I found him to be such a warm and caring person. I truly adored his calm demeanor. He will be sorely missed by all here in the Corning area. God Bless you Father Davis.

I WAS SADDENED TO FIND OUT THAT FATHER DAVIS HAD DIED. AS A MATTER OF FACT THE WAY I FOUND OUT WAS SHEN I TRIED TO FIND THE NUMBER OF THE CORNING LEADER OBIT SECTION. I WAS PUTTING AN ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE PAPER FOR A GRAVESIDE SERVICE FOR MY DAD WHO HAD PASSED AWAY ON THE 8TH OF MAY. I MET FATHER DAVIS IN 1981 WHEN HE SAID THE FUNERAL MASS FOR MY BROTHER BILL AND THEN AGAIN WHEN HE DID THE FUNERAL MASS FOR MY MOM IN 1986. OVER THE YEARS I WOULD HEAR FROM HIM ON A YEARLY BASIS. HE SENT ME A CHRISTMAS LETTER EVERY YEAR. FATHER DAVIS RATHER REMINDED ME OF SANTA CLAUS–HE WAS SO JOLLY AND KIND. I KNOW THAT THE LAST FEW YEARS HEALTH WISE WERE VERY TOUGH FOR HIM AND NOW HE’S FREE OF THAT. I WILL MISS HIM TERRIBLY. REST IN PEACE DEAR FRIEND.

Many years ago Father Davis came in to a store where I was working and we were talking about Saint Christopher medals. I was showing him one on my key chain and he asked if I would like him to bless it. I was so honored by this act of kindness. I still have that same medal and it goes everywhere with me. He will always be special to me for that. May God bless him always.

So sorry to hear of your passing. You baptized our twins on a blizzard snow storm many years ago at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning, NY. I also had the blessed opportunity to help you when you stayed at Founders Pavilion for a short time. I am a Nurse, still at Founders in Corning. Rest in Peace.

I often served as Alter Boy for Father Davis. Remembering Father Davis’s love of the Mass, I was always mindful of the particular way he prepared for the Feast of the Eucharist. It was a pleasure to serve for him. I also remember that many years later when I was preparing to receive my Confirmation in Rota, Spain, the Priest required a copy of my Baptism from St Patrick’s in Corning. He sent a letter to Father Davis who was able to obtain my Baptism paperwork that was signed by Father Sweeney, just 5 days prior to the 1972 Flood. Father Davis, thanks for all the memories and guidance. Rest in Peace. Dan Lehman
