Cremation Caskets

Cremation caskets are specially designed for families selecting cremation. These caskets are constructed with lower metal content, less ornamentation, and use simpler designs than burial caskets. Cremation caskets are suggested for public or private viewings and/or services when the body is present. Unlike rental caskets, the deceased would be viewed and cremated in the cremation casket.

Rental Caskets

Rental caskets are also referred to as ceremonial caskets. These caskets are available for those who would like to have a traditional viewing and/or service before they are cremated. The deceased would be viewed in the rental casket and then cremated in a cremation container (alternative container). Rental caskets have gained popularity over the past several years as an affordable alternative to purchasing a casket for services. Because of their reusable nature, rental caskets are especially appreciated by families with environmental concerns.

Minimum Viewing Containers

Minimum viewing containers are available for those who would like to have a private family viewing or to say goodbye to their loved one immediately prior to cremation. These are offered as an affordable alternative to the more costly cremation caskets. They feature interiors with a pillow and mat and allow for a more dignified final goodbye.

Alternative Containers

An alternative container is the minimum requirement for transportation to the crematory in New York State. They are typically an unfinished wood box, made of corrugated board, fiberboard, pressed-wood, or other composition materials. These containers are used for immediate (direct) cremations only and are not designed to be used for viewings.
