Greece, NY: Ginny passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at the age of 96.
Ginny was devoted to her family, always supporting and cheering on any endeavors and adventures her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were involved in.
Ginny’s kindness, love, and devotion was not limited to her family. She was a girl scout leader for many years, taking girls on many outings and adventures and showing girls independence through her own example and that girls can do anything. As a Teacher Aid for the Greece Central school district, Ginny taught kids who struggled the most with patience and enthusiasm for several years . After retiring from teaching, she became a neighborhood watch leader to help keep her neighborhood safe and connected. Ginny was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone she knew.
Ginny loved being with her friends, playing games and going out to lunch with “the girls”. Over the years she was a fierce Pinochle and card player, loved to bowl, and she and her husband loved to dance including square dancing. Her favorite game to play recently was Mexican trains dominoes with her “gang”. She also loved and cherished her home gardens, tending them well into her early 90s.
Ginny is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Aleia) O’Reilly-McCarter (Robert), Her son Thomas K. O’Reilly (Laurie), Her grandchildren Lindsay Maier (Adam) and Brittany O’Reilly (Daniel Kolinski), her great grandchildren Ava and Cara Kolinski, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas C. O’Reilly.
