Rochester: Edward H Hollembaek: August 9, 1946 – July 8, 2026, passed away on July 8, 2026 at age 79 at Monroe Community Hospital, where he had been a resident for 10 years. Ned lived a life full of blessings and left his family with many memories to treasure. Ned graduated from St John Fisher University, Rochester, NY and a computer program training school in NYC. He worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield in a technical role.
Ned made our family so much better. His wit was sharp, with a great laugh and more than a bit of sarcasm thrown in. His card playing skills were legendary, as was his ability to solve a complex math problem in his head. He loved a good cocktail and a great dinner out, especially when someone else was buying. Ned loved all things sci-fi and was a numismatist all his life.
Ned is predeceased by his mother and father, Elizabeth (Betty) and Edward Hollembaek and his brother in law (Jeff Rich). He is survived by his siblings, Jon Hollembaek, Richard (Linda) Hollembaek, Lisa (Hollembaek) Rich, his beloved nephew and nieces – Jason Rich (Stacey Taylor), Rachel (Dillon) Cassidy, and Megan Hollembaek and grand niece and nephews – Grace, Shane and Braden Cassidy and his good friend, James Hollis.
A celebration of his life will be planned by the family for a future date.
May he rest in peace. I used to drive Ed to work at Blue Cross. I always admired his accomplishments and tenacity in the face of his physical challenges.
So many memories of Ned when we would visit Grandma and Grandpa. May he rest in peace.
