Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Jason Patrick Burns, who passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the age of 47.

If you knew Jason, you were one of the lucky ones. He was the kind of person who would do anything for those he cared about and was always there through both the good times and the difficult ones. Whether he was helping you fix your house, taking you on a new adventure, or simply sitting down to talk, Jason was someone you could always count on. He loved boating, fishing, biking, hiking, and, as he liked to say, “doing all the things.”

Jason was born on January 19, 1979, in Rochester, New York, to Linda E. Burns and Patrick J. Burns. He grew up in Greece, New York, and most recently resided in the City of Rochester with his beloved little girl, Chihuahua Maze (“Beans”).

Jason is survived by his mother, Linda E. Burns; his sister, Julie Burns-Sluk; her husband, Bill Sluk; their children Gregory and Victoria; and many other family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick J. Burns and his grandmothers Florence May Drankhan and Virgina Burns.

Please join us for a celebration of life on Saturday (July 11th) 10:00 -11:00 AM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14626.  Family and friends are invited to remain for a Memorial Service Celebrating Jason’s life, which will begin at 11:00 AM.

In Jason’s memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Verona Street Animal Society.

Jay was a very warm hearted, sweet person. He always had a smile. Years of being a great friend, to our son, Joe.
He will be truly missed, but with many good memories of their friendship.

Very sorry to hear of Jay’s unexpected and tragic passing. I haven’t seen him since around 1997, but we shared some great times back then. He was always genuinely kind, and I remember him as one of the nicest people I knew. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

Jay, thank you for being such a great man! Thank you for your love, generosity, kindness, humbleness and support. We sure were the lucky ones! I will miss your infectious laugh, smile and your excita- bird (rubbing your hands together when you got excited). I’ll miss late night talks over the fire and sharing sentiments about the blessed life we had. I’ll miss griping about all the boat things that go wrong. How can I possibly watch football without you calling Allen a bum. Thank you for always asking about my mother and seeing the best in me! I could go on and on! Rest in peace my friend! Love you!

I remember Jason as a youngster.Linda, Julie and Jason went camping with my 2 daughters and me in the ADKs. Jason was our firebug. He loved the campfire! He fed it more wood when it got low, poked at the embers when it got low. He enjoyed the swimming, hiking and other adventures we enjoyed. Jason was a sweet young boy then and grew up to be a sweet young man. I know his family and fiends will miss him. God’s ways are not our ways. I’m sure he has a beautiful place in heaven watching over all of us. Fly high with the angels, Jason, and be especially watchful over your mom.
