Spencerport: Jennie Salamone, age 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Born February 26, 1934, Jennie lived a life defined by devotion, generosity, and an unwavering love for those around her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Philip Salamone, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and partnership.
Jennie was a loving and proud mother to Denise (Bill) Woodward, Jeffrey Salamone, Alaina (Frank) Ortiz, and Johanna (John) Love. She was a cherished grandmother to Philip, Sean, Shannon, Amber, Ian, Devon, Celena, Taylor, and Owen, and a devoted great-grandmother to many great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Jennie was predeceased by her brother Joseph (Eileen) Curcio, her brother Angelo (Mary) Curcio, and her sister Carmela (Ernie) Santangelo.
Throughout her life, Jennie was not only a devoted wife and mother but also Philip’s partner in every sense of the word. Together they ran several family businesses, including a hair salon and a deli, always working side by side. In retirement, Jennie and Philip spent time in the Virgin Islands enjoying life in the sunshine, but it was the love of family that ultimately brought them back to Rochester, where they re-laid their roots and once again became the heart of the Salamone family.
Jennie’s home was a place where everyone belonged. There was always food for anyone, anytime, and she would never let you sit at her table without filling your plate. Her kitchen was the center of countless memories, laughter, and traditions. She was especially known for her baking — her legendary salami bread and pizza were family favorites that always left people asking for more.
Mom had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel special. When you were with her, you felt like you were the center of her world. Whether through a warm hug, a shared meal, or simply sitting together at the table, she made people feel seen, loved, and important. Her love was constant, her kindness effortless, and her presence unforgettable. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort knowing her spirit lives on in every family gathering, every shared recipe, and every act of love she taught us by example. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always remembered as the heart of our family.
