Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute

Robert (Bob) Smith passed away on July 20, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with blood cancer. He was a true fighter and an inspiration to many.

He was born in Rochester, NY, the son of the late Burton and Mildred Smith. Growing up, he enjoyed vacationing in the 1000 Islands with his family and taking his boat out on Irondequoit Bay. He was also a proud Eagle Scout.

Bob graduated from Eastridge High School and received degrees from Alfred State College and RIT. After working at Farrel Corp and Taylor Instruments, he was hired in the shop at Machine Tool Research. Bob stayed at MTR until his retirement in 2023 as senior sales engineer.

Most people remember Bob as a handyman and “Mr. Fix It”. If something was broken, Bob found a way to repair it. He loved tinkering, spending time in his workshop and collecting tools.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Tracy; children, Jerry (Sarah) Smith, Jeff (Kelly) Smith, and Kelly (Gabe) Rembold; grandchildren, Riley, Violet, and Jordan; birth mother, June Harrington; sisters and brothers, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will be holding a private gathering at a later date.

Bob received many life-saving blood transfusions during his cancer battle. In his memory, please donate blood to help save the lives of others.

One night at a campfire at camp, after a few drinks, Bob made a joke. We all looked at each other and howled as somebody said, “Bob made a joke!!” That made us laugh even harder and Bob laughed along with us. We will miss his gentle, quiet ways. Love and hugs

    Dear Tracy and family,
I am so very sorry to learn of Bobby’s passing. So many memories of fun family visits to Pemberton Road when growing up! May Jesus hold you all close to His loving heart in the days ahead. He invites you to “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” May the Lord’s unfathomable peace wash over your grief and comfort you as no one else can.
    In Jesus’ love, Elaine Fallesen
