Louis P. Ferrari: January 29, 1954- passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of almost 50 years, Nancy; sons Joseph A. (Laurie) Ferrari and Louis P. II (Solmarie) Ferrari; grandchildren, Gabriella M. Ferrari, Louis J. Ferrari, Valentina M. Ferrari, Frank Fazio and Joseph Fazio; sister, Maria (Mario) Leonardo; sister-in-law, Susan Dimarzo; many aunts, many nieces, nephew, cousins and countless dear friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Ferrari and brother-in-law, Dominic DiMarzo.

Louis P. was a legend in his own right. A man who was never afraid to fail, his favorite quote was “A man cannot fully appreciate success until he has met failure.” He grew up on Parkway off of Lyell Avenue. He met his neighbor, Nancy at the age of 5 who went on to become his girlfriend, confidant, business partner, fierce protector, and loyal wife. Nancy and Lou had been a couple for over 65 years and were on the cusp of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in June.

A man of tremendous talent, he had multiple business endeavors that took him down many paths in life. He always had the support of his wife in all of his many ventures. He founded Accurate Insurance in 1976 and grew it into one of the largest independent insurance agencies in Western NY until he sold it in 2006. He also founded Ferrari Tours with his Father Joe, running junket tours to Atlantic City and Las Vegas from 1988 until 2010. Bringing countless people from Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse for a weekend of fun in Vegas or A.C.

When it came to business, he was without fear. He looked at business as a form of socializing. And that’s what he did best. Often called the life of the party, he truly enjoyed making good times better.

He loved listening to music and was an avid fan of Frank Sinatra, Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire. He was a wealth of knowledge and prided himself on knowing birthdays, family trees, and local lore. He could converse about any subject matter. He loved to offer guidance and input without being overbearing.

However his true pride and joy was undoubtedly his family, he would light up whenever he was speaking of his sons. He was extremely proud of his boys and all of their accomplishments. And he adored being Papa Lou to his grandchildren. He was always only a phone call or text away whenever he was needed. He relished in his role as a father figure to his two daughters in law, Laurie and Solmarie.

He never discouraged anyone from reaching for their dreams. He would never talk you out of buying something, especially if it made you happy. A true gentleman, an old soul, a man with pure class from a bygone era. You would never see him in sweatpants or sneakers, he was meticulous about his appearance and insisted on being well dressed. A generous man who loved to “dook” everyone he encountered.

A special thanks to the nurses and staff on Sands 5, MSDU, 6800 and Sands 6 at RRH.

His Public Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Lawrence Church 1000 North Greece Road, Rochester, NY 14626. A Celebration will follow a Private Entombment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: IACKids (It’s About Caring for Kids) PO Box 16201, Rochester, NY 14616 or https://www.iackids.org

Louis was an important part of my childhood. I have so many beautiful memories. Louis was always the life of the party and always made me laugh. His loss will be felt by so many. We’ve lost an important part of our family. I’m sure when he was fitted with his angel wings he asked that they be gold tipped. Until we meet again cousin know you are loved. … and rest assured there is no Howdie Doody in heaven❤️

  45. Jo Ann (Scialo) Deana and Lynn on April 22, 2025 at 7:17 pm

    Dear Nancy and sons,
We are so sorry to hear of Louie’s passing. I first met in Lou 1965 and years later my children met Lou. As time passed, and your wedding was being planned, Nancy, you and Lou asked Deana to be your flower girl. She was so excited. And then, in the coming years as Confirmation approached, she asked
you, Nancy to be her sponsor. Several days before Confirmstion, Dee showed signs of the chicken pox. I contacted you, and you in turn asked your doctor if you could attend as you were pregnant with your first son. Answer was no. So being the gentleman that Louis was, he graciously said he would step in. On the day of Confirmation, Louis arrived at our house in typical Louis fashion in a limo. He also had a corsage for Deana. She felt like she was a Queen. They for the church in the limo and returned in the limo.
So many memories were made on Parkway. Too many to mention. But Nancy and boys please remember memories are yours and no one can take them away.
Louis was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was a true gentleman in every aspect. Always greeting us with a hug and a kiss
You may have lost your “shining star” but look up in the heavens, and you will see him shining brightly

I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to Lou’s family during this difficult time.

Lou was a remarkable person, and it’s clear that he touched the lives of so many.

I like to think Lou and I had a unique connection, as Lou fondly referred to me as his “birthday buddy.” We shared the same birthday—a coincidence that sparked our friendship many years ago.

Lou’s kindness, knowledge, and humor will be greatly missed, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

For a couple of years, at Water Street Grill back in the day, Louie and I looked at each other from opposite ends of the bar, not knowing each other but unsure of whether we liked each other. Then one night we were forced to sit next to each other and half an hour later, we became long standing friends like we grew up together.

Louie is a guy that I did not like, I truly loved the guy! Over time, our relationship even morphed to advisors to each other in interesting categories where we each had expertise and contacts.

As I age I have learned that the real people in the world have many wonderful layers of who they are. Louie has 1000 layers of deep!

To his family…when my Dad passed a friend said…”Parents are defined by the children they leave behind”…Define him because he was a great man! To his wife, thank you for supporting and loving him! To all of us who knew and loved him, so sorry for the loss but so glad for the time!
