Matthew William LaBue Brooks Greece: February 22, 2018 passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at age 26. Predeceased by his great-grandparents, John M. & Eleonore D. Brophy; grandparents, Ida & William E. Brooks II; sister-in-law, Jessica Ryder Brooks. Matthew is survived by his parents, Mary Ellen “Emmi” & William E. Brooks III; sister, Kathryn (Shawn) Strawser; brothers, Mark & Benjamin (Jenna) Brooks; grandparents, Kathleen Brophy LaBue & Samuel Thomas LaBue; aunts, uncles, 5 nieces, 1 nephew; many cousins; dear friends, Jeremy Ryan & Ryan Lopez & many close friends. Matthew is a graduate of Greece Odyssey H.S. and RIT. While in high school he completed the rank of Eagle Scout with the Greece Troop # 195. While at RIT, he joined the “PHI DELTA THETA” fraternity and was vice president 2013-14. He was generous, loving and had a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Matthew’s visitation will be held Tuesday, February 27th 4-8 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Rd. His mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 24th 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park. Private interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. He was a wonderful young man who truly loved his family. He spoke of you often. Funny, smart, and kind are how I will always remember him. Heaven is lucky to have him. .

  11. I am so sorry for everyone who knew Matthew, but especially for Emmi, Bill, and the rest of the Labue and Brophy clan. I remember playing board games with Matthew at several holiday gatherings and chatting with him at the recent family reunion. I will miss him greatly and pray for love and support for all who knew him and are grieving at this difficult time.

  12. I’m so sorry to the Brooks family for the loss of Matthew. I hung out with him a few times in college with the other Phi Delts, and remember him always being a full-hearted, happy guy with an incredibly infectious laugh.
