Judith Switzer
Returned to our Heavenly Father Thursday, December 16, 2021, following a long and courageous fight with ovarian cancer. Born to Florence and George Shults of Greece, NY, Judy was one of the first women in Rochester to take the Peace Corps entrance exam. She worked as a nurse before moving to California in the early 1960s to become a flight attendant. It was in San Francisco that she met her husband, David, of 53 years, a chemical engineer from Corning NY. After marrying they travelled to Saudi Arabia to embark upon a twenty five year career in the oil industry for Saudi ARAMCO.
Judy was passionate about her life in the Middle East, which afforded the opportunity to treasure so many unique experiences and to travel throughout the world. A vivacious and outgoing person, Judy had many friends with whom she kept in touch throughout her life. She was deeply loved. She will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and adventurous spirit, as well as her great love for animals.
She is predeceased by her husband, David. She is survived by her brother, Douglas; her daughter, Michele.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday (Jan 6th) 10:00 AM at St Lawrence Church, 1000 N Greece Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lollypop Farm Humane Society (lollypop.org) or to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (ocrahope.org) in her memory.

I was Judith and David’s dental hygienist for many years. I so enjoyed when they came in the office as they brightened my work day. Judith was a wonderful person with such kindness and gentleness when she would continue to bring in David for his visits even, as his health was declining. What lovely people. So very sorry for your loss.

Her daughter Michele
I met Judy through her brother, Doug, at our stroke group. I also would see Judy and Dave at St. Charles frequently. Then we met up again at St. Ann’s where both of our husbands were residents. She was a lovely person, so friendly and giving. This seemed so unexpected to me as she was always so full of life. I am so sorry for your loss, Michele. Will keep you in my prayers.

The Cameron family holds Judy (and Dave and Michele) so close to our hearts. The memories we shared with the Switzer family around the world were truly special…but the laughter and love we received from their friendship were priceless and indelible. We mourn the loss of an amazing friend, wife and mother, while simultaneously celebrating the immense love that Judy spread amongst those lucky enough to have been in her presence. Wishing peace and solace to Michele as she adjusts to Judy’s passing. May she rest easy.

Hello Michelle, I am writing on behalf on my mom, Shirley Locke. She and Judy were friends for many years through the “money counters” at St. Charles church. She has asked me to send her sympathy to you through this medium as she physically will not be able to attend the funeral tomorrow. She always spoke so highly of Judy, they used to joke around that Judy was the “kid” in the group as she was 10+ years younger than the other ladies. Judy was always the driver and very happy to drive to whatever events they were going to. My mom will miss her and has so many lovely memories of their times together.
