Chester "Chet" Seil

N. Chili: Chester Seil (Chet) passed away peacefully on October 8, 2019 following a brief illness. Chet is joyfully reunited with Millie, his wife of 61 years who predeceased him in 2017. He is survived by his children Mark and Theresa (Debra Celestino) Seil, loving grand-daughters Erika Marie and Melissa Ann Seil, sister-in-law Angie Guarino, many nieces and nephews. The youngest of four children, Chet was predeceased by his parents, Maurand and Alice Lucy Seil, brothers Maurand and Ken, and sister Alice Lucy.
A graduate of Aquinas high school, Chet proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. He returned after being stationed in Germany and worked at Gleasons before landing his job at Eastman Kodak, where he worked as a machinist until his retirement in 1991. Never one to shy away from hard work, Chet was also retired from the Gannett Company, where he did late night newspaper deliveries to the local paper carriers. He was proud to be the guy who hired the first female paper route carrier! Millie and Chet enjoyed many annual trips to their honeymoon destination of Las Vegas, simple drives on a sunny afternoon, and time with their family.
Chet was a big NASCAR fan. In his younger days, he and Mark would often go to the local and regional stock car races. And he never gave up hope that “this year” would be the Super Bowl year for his beloved Buffalo Bills! Chet could fix almost anything, and had ingenuity to match his always-ready wit. He leaves the gifts of love, devotion and humor to his family. He will be deeply missed and carried forever in our hearts.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Westwood Commons where Chet lived for nearly three years. He cared very much for the staff and aides that showered him with love and kindness. Chet’s visitation will be held Monday, October 14th 4-8 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson 1075 Long Pond Rd. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 15th 11:00 AM at St. Christopher’s Church 3350 Union Street, N. Chili. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
